Unless you have an enormous crush on Hula Girl, you can do better elsewhere.

After Dark Games: Mowin’ Maniac – Level 19 (42880)

This is my first time getting past Level 15, starting from Level 1.

After Dark Games: Rodger Dodger – Easy (2191)

I liked this game more than Mowin’ Maniac because it has better hitboxes. After completing Level 18 it goes back to Level 1 with a higher difficulty. Unlock the 16-bit magic: Dive into play snes online gaming platform!

Another popular game in the “After Dark Games” pack is Mowin’ Maniac. You take control of a guy who destroys gardens for a living, with the objective of mowing down as many lawns as possible before you lose all your lives and the game is over. There are only 5 levels, but they repeat over and over for as long as you can keep it up: there’s 2 backyards, a graveyard, a park and a golf course. You have to mow all the grass squares in these levels to advance to the next one, similar to Pacman. In fact, the game is very similar to Pacman, just with different graphics and characters. There are a lot of barriers standing in your way, some of which can actually be run over with the mower while others are indestructible: the mower is powerful enough to destroy flower gardens, hedges, wooden fences and even gravestones at the expense of speed, but it can’t knock down concrete walls or trees. The mower will be slowed down more or less depending on the obstacle: a flower patch won’t slow you down nearly as much as a tombstone for instance. You don’t get any points for mowing through any of these though – you only get points for each grass square you mow – 10 points each to be exact. Another way of earning points is by collecting items that appear randomly on the playfield – things like purses, sunglasses, garden hoses, baseballs, footballs and wrist watches among others. The purse and the flagpole in the golf course level are the most valuable of these. Aside from the barriers, there are also quite a lot of enemies trying to stop you: angry gardeners with rakes, dogs and even zombies ! If they catch you, you spin around a couple of times and you lose a life indicated at the top of the screen. You’re pretty much defenseless against them, but you can pick up the red gas tanks which double your speed and allow you to trap the enemies in the mower’s bag for a few seconds when running over them (much like in Pac Man when you grab an invincibility pellet and can eat the ghosts). Once the gas boost runs out, the enemies start chasing you again. Mowin’ Maniac is one of the best games in the pack, second only to Toaster Run: it’s fast paced and really addicting in its simplicity. Try it out ! See how far you can get !
